TOKYO TOURS

Our tours are private tours and the tour fee is for the group of your own. We do not mix tours with other groups.

  • TOKYO Tour 1JPY30,000 (for a 5-hour tour)

    This tour is recommended for those who would like to visit some less crowded sites but conveniently located in the heart of Tokyo. You will learn about how these sites are related to Japanese people’s lives.

    Meeting time and place

    At 9:30am in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo or at Ochanomizu Station Hijiribashi Exit (we avoid morning rush hour by starting at 9:30am).

    Transport

    We ride JR trains and subways so you can get used to using them. We also take one short taxi ride during the tour

    Visit

    A local historical memorial to understand the philosophy of Confucianism, and a small local chaya (tea house) for a short rest with a traditional confectionery (or a coffee if you prefer). A historical building formerly owned by a powerful family with a large garden where you will experience tranquility in the heart of Tokyo. A Meji-era building that blends European architecture in with Japanese traditional building skills. None of these places are in the major guide books but they are all these places are very much treasured by the locals.

    Lunch

    We eat at a shabu-shabu restaurant in the middle of the Ginza shopping district. Our guide will show you how to enjoy shabu-shabu and how to eat in the Japanese fashion. (If you prefer a different type of food, please let us know your dietary restrictions or preferences in advance.)

    ***Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions. In Japan, most of the food are cooked in a broth made of kelp and dried bonito flakes (dashi broth). Thus, if you cannot accept dashi, we will have to choose some Western style food.

    Ending time and place

    At 2:30pm in the center of the Ginza shopping district or at a station convenient to your afternoon activities. If you prefer a beautiful garden visit, we can arrange this tour to include the garden visit. Please write your request in the reservation form.

  • TOKYO Tour 2JPY30,000 (for a 5-hour tour)

    This tour is recommended for early birds. The tour includes major sites in Tokyo but by starting early in the morning. You can enjoy quiet city of Tokyo in the beginning of the tour.

    Meeting time and place

    At 7:15am in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo (if you would like to see the early morning shrine ritual)
    or at 9:30am in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo

    Transport

    We ride JR trains and subways so you can get used to using them.

    Visit

    An Imperial shrine, Meiji Shrine, which is very quiet in the morning and you will see a morning service by the priests. Modern architectural tour in Omotesando area. Then you will move to the Tsukiji's old fish market site (not viewing bidding but seeing the outer market) and have a sushi break, if requested. We can then move on to Hamarikyu Garden.
    **The fish market has moved to Toyosu. It is easy to visit the fish market on your own. Thus, it is not included in our tours.

    Lunch

    You can have a coffee break during the tour, the so-called ‘the morning set’ served at coffee shops for Japanese business people who missed breakfast or you can also have an early sushi lunch in Tsukiji area.

    Ending time and place

    The tour will end at 12 noon at a place convenient for you. PLease let the guide know where you would like to go after the tour. If you are going to the shopping districts, such as Shibuya, Harajuku or Odaiba, after the tour, your guide can help you to the area. If you would like to ride on the seabus from Hamarikyu to Asakusa area, we can check the boat time.

  • TOKYO Tour 3JPY30,000 (for a 5-hour tour)

    This tour is recommended for those who would like walking through the back streets and into a residential area and then to the trendiest shopping districts of Tokyo to see the life of Tokyo people through the historical and modern parts of Tokyo. Visit unique local temple and a well-designed Japanese garden where the wedding banquets are often held. We will then visit most exciting shopping districts, Harajuku and Shibuya and its renown scramble intersection when these towns become lively later during the tour. You will see the latest fashion enjoyed by the young Tokyo’s trend leaders.

    Meeting time and place

    At 9:30am in the lobby of your hotel in Tokyo. (For those staying at airbnbs, we will designate the best place to meet you.)

    Transport

    We ride JR trains and subways so you can get used to using them. One of the purposes of this tour is for you to be orientated to the transport in the city. Our guide will also give you suggestions on how to spend the rest of your stay in Tokyo

    Visit

    A beautifully landscaped Japanese garden, with water hall and flowers of the season. It is designated as a Tangible Cultural Asset in Japan A small temple which went through a dramatic destiny at Edo period. Its 520 stone statue of Boddhisatvas are sure to be a picturesque site. Harajuku Takeshita-dori street, the youngsters’ fashion trend spot Shibuya scramble intersection, a gigantic heart of Tokyo, one of the busiest crossing in the world, where 500,000 pedestrians a day wait and cross coming from all directions

    Lunch

    Our tours never take you to the touristy restaurants. We will choose one considering your requests, to enjoy traditional Japanese food, soba/udon noodle, ramen noodle, okonomiyaki, tonkatsu, tempura, sushi…. you name it! Please let us know in advance if you have any dietary restrictions.

    Ending time and place

    The tour will end at Shibuya, then you can enjoy shopping at several department stores, the famous Tokyu Hands, the gadget store of 7th floors, or even sit at an cafe by the windows and enjoy ‘people watching’.

    Special request

    After the tour, if you are interested in traditional Japanese Wadaiko (Japanese drums), why don’t you join the lesson at Wadaiko class?

    About wadaiko:

    Taiko have a mythological origin in Japanese folklore.
    Taiko function has varied ranging from communication, military action, theatrical accompaniment, and religious ceremony to both festival and concert performances.
    It has now established itself as a performing art in its own right.
    Taiko-no-sato Kyowakan was established as Tokyo branch of Asano Taiko which has 400 years history of Taiko maker in Ishikawa prefecture.
    A lesson in Wadaiko offers the chance to perform the traditional Japanese drum and enjoy its dynamic rhythm. You can feel refreshed after an energetic percussion lesson.

  • KAMAKURA Tour 1JPY30,000 (for a 5-hour tour)

    Kamakura is approximately 1-hour train ride from Tokyo Station. You will meet your guide at JR Kamakura Station and end the tour at Kamakura Station. This tour is recommended for those who have spent a few days in Tokyo and have learnt how to use JR trains.

    About Kamakura

    Kamakura was once a government capital run by powerful samurai clan in the 13th century. You will see learn about the history of Kamakura as you walk through the back alleys in Kamakura to avoid the tourists. Kamakura is located very close to the beaches that Tokyoites enjoy swimming and surfing. It will be a get-away from the central Tokyo to see the green hills and small back alleys with old temples and shrines.

    Meeting time and place

    Take a JR train to JR Kamakura Station and meet our guide at JR Exit for transfer to Enoden Railway. We will give you detailed train times and directions once you let us know your starting point (your hotel).
    Meeting time: For you to avoid the morning rush hours, you can meet your guide at around 10:30am at JR Kamakura Station. If the tour is on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, please let us know if you can leave your hotel earlier than 9am.

    Transport

    We use some short rides on Enoden Railway from Kamakura Station and enjoy strolling throughout the tour.

    Visit (Kamakura vicinity)

    You will visit the Great Buddha and local shrines and temples. Kamakura is also know for wood carving crafts.

    Lunch

    You will find local restaurants in the area. However, here is one good suggestion for foodies! One local family-run restaurant (lucky if we could book!) serves lovely lunch with lots of local vegetable in the price range of JPY2,000 to JPY3,000 per person. The restaurant is located perfect place in the tour route and is in a residential-style house. Please let us know if you would like seats booked. **Please please note that we cannot cancel the bookings once made and it will require minimum cancellation charge of JPY2,000 per seat.

    Ending place

    At JR Kamakura Station unless you would like to continue shopping near the last part of the tour route.
